INTRODUCTION

Phoenix Dynasty Online, a MMORPG set in the world of the Warring States period of ancient China (from 475 B.C to 221 B.C.), presents an eye catching and realistic style of 2.5D paintings. In PDO, you can enjoy the brilliance of decor, settings, as well as the legacy of history and fierce fighting among seven feudal states.

PDO presents to the players the following exciting features: scenery of extraordinary beauty; thousands of quests; cool actions and effects; advanced equipment forging; exotic and magical mounts; guild wars and states wars; and a unique five-elements system. PDO utilizes a 2.5D game engine, with the background maps and scenery in 2 dimensional graphics, and characters and monsters in 3D graphics. With high quality graphics, the 2.5D graphics outscore other pure 3D games at some levels, but require less hardware resources.

FEATURES

Five-Element System In traditional Chinese philosophy, natural phenomena can be classified into the five elements: metal, wood, water, fire and earth. These elements were used for describing interactions and relationships between phenomena. The doctrine of five phases describes two Cycles of Balance, a generating cycle and a restraining or destruction cycle of interactions between the phases. The generating cycle is: Wood feeds Fire; Fire creates Earth (ash); Earth bears Metal; Metal collects Water and Water nourishes Wood. The restraining cycle is: Wood parts earth; Earth absorbs water; Water quenches fire; Fire melts metal and Metal chops wood.

Phoenix Dynasty Online incorporates the highly acclaimed Five-Element Promotion and Restriction system based on ancient Chinese philosophy. Furthermore, the concept of "Gifted 5E", "Promotion and Restriction Relationship between 5Es", and the "Training System of 5E Nimbus" permeates throughout the game. For example, the "Gifted 5E" concept enriches the personal characteristics of each character class, and the "Promotion and Restriction Relationships between 5Es" are introduced to the production system so that players can first obtain materials from the monsters and then make the products on their own, while the "Training System of 5E Nimbus" is a process of players drawing nimbus from creatures for energy reinforcement so that they can practice and refine their fighting skills.

It is important to play PDO with a good understanding of the Five-Element System. All things in game, such as characters, skills, monsters, weapons and equipments, can have their unique Five-Element attributes. A player can select and develop a major elemental attribute associated with his/her character. Furthermore, he/she can develop major/minor skills based on the Five-Element system by completing different quests to get skill books and learn from them. The monsters in the game also have different Five-Element attributes, and when fighting them, a player might need to use weapons that restrict them. When forging advanced weapon or other equipment, a player need to select the materials carefully based on the Five-Element principle, in order to obtain superior results. The Five-Element system has introduced a new level of fun and excitement to PDO players.

Advanced Forging System
The forging system is one of the core systems in Phoenix Dynasty Online. "Forging" means the art of making equipment by collecting some basic materials, and then turn them into the final equipment. In order to “forge” a superior equipment, one has to study and plan the "forging process" and then carefully aligning the materials collected.

To understand the principles of forging, you must understand the term: "materials" and "proficiency".
- Materials: Materials are collected from dead bodies of animals or rare monsters. you can collect materials from monster drops to forge weapons, armors, baldrics, medicines, etc. The monsters of the same type might drop different materials. There are three different levels of quality for the materials, white, blue, and green. The white materials have the lowest quality, and the green materials have the highest quality. Consequently, the equipment forged from materials with different colors may also depict different colors, white, blue or green, whereas a white equipment has the lowest quality and a green equipment has the highest quality.
- Proficiency: Proficiency means the level of the forging skill. You can develop your forging proficiency by successfully completing a forged product. Proficiency is divided into different levels, called “Forging Levels”, with ranking titles for each level. The higher your Forging Level is, the better finished product you will obtain.

Suit System
The Suit System is a significant feature in the equipment system of Phoenix Dynasty Online. A Suit means a special set of (up to 7) equipment including weapon, armor, and other items, all starting with the same name prefix,that depicts superior quality compared to Non-Suit equipment, and it is one of the ultimate goals of a PDO player to get a good Suit. There are 3 kinds of Suits available in the game, "Reputation Suit", "Class Title Suit", and "Top Class Suit"; Each of the Suits may have 3 different levels, common, comprising a set of 3 Suit units, Elite, comprising a set of 5 Suit units, and Ultra, comprising a set of 7 units.

Mount System
* Mounts also have five elements attributes associated with them, such as – Tiger (Metal), Bull (Wood), Shanyi (Fire), Bear (Earth) etc.
* Mount can add extra attack or defense attribute to players
* Players can fight and PK while riding their mounts

Guild System
The guild system in PDO has the following features:
* Creation of guilds and guild colonies.
* The guild colony can upgrade together with its guild.
* Creation of guild defensive fortification.
* Guild wars over different territories.
